Frequently asked questions about BPM-202 Software:
Installation problem for Windows 7:
Error messages installing the software or the computer "hangs up" (Windows 7 installation only):
- Make sure you are using the latest software version BPM-202 ver. 3.1.2
- BPM-202 uses the Microsoft Windows .net framework 1.1 to run. If this software is not installed or installed incorrectly BPM-202 will not install. Usually when the installation fails, the problem is with the .net framework 1.1. To resolve this issue try the following steps:
Step 1:
- Open the CD and right click on "BPMSetup" file. In the menu select "troubleshoot compatability". Follow the instructions.
- If this did not install the software correctly, go to step 2.
Step 2 if the above did not work:
- Install the .net framework 1.1 file manually from the CD. It is located on the CD under /SupportFiles/dotNet1.1/English/dotnetfx.exe. If this installs correctly also install the service pack from the CD. Now run the BPM Setup again and it will install the software.
- If the .net framework 1.1 installation fails. Install using the Windows Compatability Mode. To use this mode right click on the file (dotnetfx.exe) and choose "troubleshoot compatability", follow the instructions. There is also a video on the Microsoft Website that shows how it works. If this works, follow the same steps for the service pack. Once the .net is installed, install the BPM-202 Software. If this did not install the softeare correctly, go to step 3.
Step 3 if the above did not work:
Download the Microsoft components from the Microsoft website:
If this does not resolve the issue, contact Microsoft for more information on how to install Microsoft .net framework 1.1 on Windows 7.
Note: Please note that newer versions of the .net framework are not "upgrades" from version 1.1. Each framework is a separate program. If your computer has version 4 installed, you still have to install 1.1 for BPM to function. The installation of 1.1 will not affect other versions as this is a software by itself.
"BPM does not fit on my screen" using Windows 7:
If BPM does not fit on your screen follow these stepse:
- Install all new Windows 7 updates.
- Windows 7 has the option to increase font sizes (Windows Control Panel). BPM only runs at "Normal Size" (100%).
If this does not resolve the problem, here are some additional steps:
- Right click on the BPM logo.
- In the menu select "troubleshoot compatability". Follow the instructions.
- These steps should adjust the display size for BPM.
Error Messages:
Recort Type Unknown:
This indicates that the software does not receive any data from the BP Monitor. This is caused by a bad connection between the BP monitor and the PC or a bad installation of the windows Human Interface driver. Follow these steps:
- Disconnect the BP monitor from the computer and exit the BPM software. Restart the software and follow the proper download instructions in your quick start guide. If this does not resolve the problem, continue with the next step.
- When you plug the USB cable into the BP monitor you should see "lines moving" on the display indicating that the BP monitor is now connected. If you don't see those lines or they are steady there is something wrong with your connection or windows drivers, contact Microsoft to resolve this problem.
- If you see the lines "moving", but still get the error message, disconnect the BP monitor, exit the software and restart your computer. Try the download again.
- If the problem persists there is a problem with the Windows Human Interface. Shut down the BPM software, disconnect the USB cable from the BP monitor and disconnect the USB cable from the computer. Connect the USB cable to a DIFFERENT USB port, this will re-install a new Human Interface driver in Windows. Try the download again.
- If none of the above resolves the problem, continue with "persistant errors" listed below:
Error reading data, bad checksum:
This indicates a communication error:
- Disconnect the BP monitor from the USB cable and exit the BPM software.
- Restart the software and try the download again.
Device not detected:
Indicates that windows does not recognize that the BP monitor is connected. This is a windows driver problem. Contact Microsoft to resolve the connection problem.
- You can try to restart the software first, but the problem will most likely continue until the connection problem is resolved.
- You can also try the following. Shut down the BPM software, disconnect the USB cable from the BP monitor and disconnect the USB cable from the computer. Connect the USB cable to a DIFFERENT USB port, this will re-install a new Human Interface driver in Windows. Try the download again.
Persistant errors:
If your errors persist and it includes errors related to "record type unknown", "error reading data, bad checksum" and "device not detected" follow these instructions.
These errors indicate a communication problem between Windows and the device. Please follow these steps to re-install the windows driver.
- Exit the BPM Software.
- Open device manager* in Windows.
- Plug the USB cable into the computer and the BP monitor.
- Expand the “Human Interface Devices” listing.
- Under “Human Interface Devices”, uninstall the “USB Human Interface Device” which identifies the BP Monitor (do NOT delete the directory heading or any other devices, only this 1 entry in the listing of Human Interfaces). If you are not sure which one this is, unplug the BP monitor, check the listings on your PC. Plug in the BP monitor, the new listing is the one you need to uninstall.
- Disconnect the USB cable from the BP Monitor and the computer. Turn the BP monitor off by pushing the START/STOP button. Wait a couple of seconds.
- Connect the USB cable back into the computer, than into the BP monitor. Windows will re-install the driver for the BP monitor. Under “Human Interface Devices” you should now see the device listed (without any error indications from windows).
- Close the device manager and control panel.
- Re-start BPM.
- Try downloading the data again.
* The device manager is located under “Control Panel” / “System” / “Hardware” / “Device Manager”.
If the problem continuous, contact Microsoft to resolve the connection problem.
Instructions to remove BPM:
If errors continue that are related to the software and not the connection between the BP monitor and BPM (errors listed above), completely remove BPM and re-install the software.
1) Under “Control Panel” go to “Add/Remove” programs. Remove BPM. Close all open windows.
2) Using Windows Explorer delete the following files:
- Under “C:\Program Files” remove the “Zewa” folder.
- Under “C:\Documents and Settings” select the folder that is listed for your computer settings, in our case it is called “Mycomputer”. Under “Mycomputer” is another folder called “Application Data”, in “Application Data” another one called “Zewa”, delete this folder "Zewa". Your path should look something like this:
- C:\Documents and Settings\mycomputer\Application Data\Zewa
- Close the window.
3) Remove the Zewa registry Key (WARNING, be very careful removing this key)
- Click on “Start” and select “Run”. Enter "regedit" and click on “OK” which will open a new window.
- Click on the plus sign next to "hkey_local_machine", this will open a new list of registries.
- Click on the plus sign next to "Software", this will open a new list of registries.
- Scroll down, the last listing is “Zewa”. Click on it so that it is marked in blue. With the right mouse button open a windows menu and click delete to delete the Zewa registry. Make sure you only delete this Zewa folder and nothing else.
- Close the window
4) We have now removed everything associated with the software. If you would like to confirm that everything has been removed properly, you can run a search for “BPM”, nothing should come up.
5) Reinstall the software.
Note 1: If you are using version 2 and above your data previously stored in BPM should still be available unless the database has been corrupted.
If you are not familiar with any of the above steps, please do not attempt to make any of these repairs yourself, contact a professional. Zewa is not responsible for any problems resulting from changes made to any other software.
